HERBERT
M. BERKOWITZ, OF COUNSEL
Herbert M. Berkowitz was born in New York City and in 1971,
earned a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Wisconsin
Law School where he was a member of the Dean's List for
three semesters. Mr. Berkowitz served as principal law clerk
to Chief Judge Jack G. Day, of the Ohio Court of Appeals,
after which he spent several years in Cleveland, Ohio working
for the U.S. Department of Justice and as an assistant U.S.
Attorney before moving to Tampa in 1978, when he was invited
to join the Organized Crime and Racketeering Strike Force
of the U.S. Department of Justice. Upon entering the private
sector in 1980, Mr. Berkowitz has focused his practice almost
exclusively on the needs of injured clients in the related
areas of Personal Injury, Wrongful
Death, and Medical
Malpractice litigation.
Mr. Berkowitz is admitted to practice in Florida and the
U.S. District Court, the Federal Court of Claims, as well
as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth, Sixth and Eleventh
Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of several
professional organizations including:

Mr. Berkowitz received the Fogarty Memorial "In the
Trenches" Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation
from the Hillsborough County Bar Association in 1997. An

rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, he has
been recommended for appointment for a circuit judgeship
by the Judicial Nominating Committee on eight occasions.
He has received the U.S. Department of Justice Special Commendation
Award for outstanding service, as well as a number of letters
of commendation from various Federal law enforcement agencies,
He is listed in the Who's Who In American Law, 5th, 7th,
8th and 9th editions.
Mr. Berkowitz currently serves on the Board of Trustees
of the Florida Prostate Cancer Network. He is Treasurer
and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Life Center
of the Suncoast and has served as a member of the Board
of Trustees and Executive Committee at Congregation Schaarai
Zedek Synagogue. He is a member of the North Tampa Chamber
of Commerce and the Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce where
he has served as a member of the Board of Directors. He
has also served as a member on the Tiger Bay Club Board
of Directors. He was treasurer of the Tampa Fencers Club
and has been an active member of the United States Fencing
Association.
Mr. Berkowitz and his wife, Gloria, have one son Peter.
