Tampa Car Accident Victim Represented by Clark & Martino is Awarded $6.4 Million
After a serious car accident in November 2007, a 33-year-old Tampa woman suffered from massive injuries that will have a long term impact on her memory as well as her ability to walk. Fortunately justice was served for the woman, who was represented by Attorney Anthony T. Martino of Clark and Martino, P.A., recently when a court awarded her $6.4 million. The money will help her pay for current and future medical bills related to accident injuries, replacement of her vehicle, which was totaled, and cost of living expenses.
The compensation is vitally important to the single mother whose ability to work was diminished as a result accident injuries. She was broadsided by an SUV when the driver, Robert Young, failed to stop at a traffic light. The SUV crushed the victim’s sedan, creating a three-foot intrusion that required her to be cut free from the vehicle. Her injuries were so devastating she was airlifted from the scene to St. Joseph’s hospital for emergency treatment.
Immediately following the crash, the victim was in a coma for more than a week, supported by a ventilator. She sustained multiple internal injuries including a ruptured spleen, a ruptured diaphragm, a brain injury, and a compression fracture. She also suffered multiple lacerations that resulted in scars. She underwent about seven surgeries, but doctors were unable to reverse all of the bodily harm she sustained. The woman still walks with an altered gait and she struggles with memory loss, headaches and speech impediments.
The award will help her return to a normal life in the wake of this devastating accident, ensuring that she can afford the ongoing medical care that she needs and that she can support her family even if she can’t work full time.
